Welcome to HKCHC Exchange

If your Home institution has a valid Student Exchange Agreement with HKCHC, you can apply to HKCHC as an Incoming Exchange student through nomination by your Home institution.

 

If your university does not have an exchange agreement with HKCHC, you may consider joining as Study Abroad student.

Incoming Exchange Eligibility

  • Successfully completed Year 1 of study at your local institution

 

  • Possess English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 79 internet-based. (Note: no proof of English proficiency is required for Incoming Exchange students with nomination except from Chinese Mainland and Taiwan Partner institutions).

Application Procedure

    • Upon receiving nomination from your Home institution, an invitation will be sent to you via email for completing the full application by the relevant deadline.

     

    • You are required to complete the application with supporting documents uploaded, and dispatch or send by express post to “Communications and Public Relations Office CPRO” for our handling. A non-refundable administrative fee of HKD 600 (covers VISA fee, courier service and courier of transcript etc.) applies.

     

    • You must pick a academic unit as your Host department and take at least 50% of Subjects from your Host. The Subject List available at the time you submit your application is for reference only. You will be able to read the finalized Subject List and timetables nearer to the start of the Semester.

Visa Application

  • You MUST apply for a student visa from the Hong Kong Immigration Department BEFORE coming to Hong Kong to begin your studies, unless you have the right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong. You can download and complete the form ID995A “Application for Entry for Study in Hong Kong”

 

  • All exchange students who require a student visa, are to route their applications through HKCHC for handling. After receiving confirming of your exchange, you will have access to the visa application instructions. Students should mail their visa applications to HKCHC who will submit the package to Hong Kong Immigrations on your behalf. The processing time is around 6-8 weeks. When the visa is issued, HKCHC will collect it and mail it to you before your departure for Hong Kong.

Accommodation Arrangement

  • Exchange students will have the opportunity (supply permitting) to live in university arranged housing and can choose to stay on-campus or off-campus near the campus.
  • To apply, exchange students need only indicate their preference in their exchange application form. Hall allocations will be emailed to students in the month before arrival.

Insurance

It is mandatory for non‐local students to have suitable and adequate insurance covering travel, personal accidents, medical expenses (accident and non‐ accident), hospitalization and emergency evacuation / repatriation throughout the entire period of their study in Hong Kong.
